Applesauce time . . .

As the congregation prepares for its big annual chicken dinner, the kids got to be a part of the preparation.  The first thing to be done is making the applesauce for the dinners.  They pre-make (& freeze for safe keeping) little soufflé cups so they are ready to serve the day of.

They even let the girls cut.  Now there was no peeling and no coring involved.

I wasn’t there (at Children’s Hospital while Kassi had a volunteer shift) so I’m not sure how this really worked out.  I know there was cooking with lots of sugar involved.

Then they used this apparatus to grind the apples, which in turn separated the core and skin from the pulp.

Once the sauce was cool enough, Kendal and Zack scooped it into the cups.  Then the cups sat till they cooled before they were capped and stored for the Sept. 21st meal.
