Her first paint project

DSCF1335

Mackenzie was very excited to get started with giving her loft bed a new look.  I explained it was her project from start to finish & she did it ALL.  She wiped down every individual piece and then made a plan to paint.  She didn’t want it to be all blue or all purple.  So she decided which boards to paint what color.  Then the work began . . .

This was a project that I thought would take much longer than it did.  She started it – with my supervision – on a Saturday afternoon and it was finished by Sunday evening.

I showed her how to paint three sides at a time so once it dried she could flip the pieces to paint the final side.  (You can see pieces leaning up against the wall on the left of the photo above.  The bed was originally a periwinkle purplish color.  The new purple is more vibrant.)

She did a great job!  She even worked mostly by herself including a time period when I was gone for about three hours.  She sought the help of her grandpa when needed – like pouring the paint into the pan and a friend helped paint a little too.

She was very excited about the final look, especially once we got it assembled.  She opted to paint the ends opposite color patterns to give the bed a fun look.

These colors are great together!  Nice choices, girls.  The bed and dresser compliment each other very nicely.
