Well, this was the first Halloween we didn't take the kids trick-o-treating because we're new to the area and we weren't sure when (other than on Halloween night around here) or where to take them - we live out in a rural area. So, the couple that hosted Jay & I, when we came out in July, invited us over for dinner, games, and treats for the kids.
It was a nice evening when we arrived at their home, this is what we found on the front door . . .
They are very welcoming out here. Then inside Patty had decorated the dining area so we could have our meal together . . .
While we were visiting, Zack found Boxer and laid around with him.
The Franks always are making us feel welcome. Patty is always telling us we can come visit any time.
While the pizzas were cooking, Patty and the girls found various things to do while Kevin and Zack played Battleship. Zack won, barely.
After we played some games, ate dinner, and listened to spooky sounds and music the kids were encouraged to go outside and ring the doorbell. Patty was so excited to pass out candy because she too lives way out in a rural area (further out than us) and no one comes to her door on Halloween.
After they got their candy, we played a game of Scrabble. Now Patty understands our pain and why we DO NOT play with Jay. Jay is a really good Scrabble player and not just with the words but playing strategically to get the most value of points. We had a really good time hanging out with the Franks. We have since learned of a great place to trick-o-treat, so next year we will venture out for those sweets!!
