For several years now, we have been buried in newspapers and weekly shopping flyers. Come Wednesday afternoons we pick up papers and then we stack and bag so Cassie and I can deliver to almost 1,400 residential homes (we do get to drive) and Jay delivers to 500 homes while walking. Cassie has been helping from the beginning, but the other two now that they are older are giving their time as well.
Zack set up in the dining area so he could watch what he wanted to on TV while helping and bagging 200 papers.
Poor Jay . . . he gets stuck watching what I want to watch, but sometimes I'll give in and let him watch what he wants. We can usually agree on what to watch on Wednesday evenings, as we now have a routine (when our shows are on), we watch Knight Rider, Criminal Minds, and then CSI: NY.
The girls usually set up in the living room and watch some Disney or Nick show. Mackenzie bags 200 while Cassie bags 300 (or more if we are swamped).
I think I can speak for all of us, we will be so glad to be done with this part of this journey when we get to say goodbye to delivering these papers and the grocery bag on the weekend. We have a new appreciation for newspaper carriers!! I am very thankful for all the help Jay and the kids give towards this, because this is truly what helps or allows for me to stay home and care for and homeschool the kids.
